A Pike Fishing Heaven on the Great Slave Lake

In the Northern part of Canada there is one of the largest freshwater lakes on Earth. It is very North, like one-week-no-darkness kind of North in summer. Very few people manage to dwell in this area, whose closest connection to the civilised world is a little airport in Yellowknife. Temperatures can reach -40°C in winter and most of the lake would freeze solid. Couple this with the predominant darkness and you would easily understand why it is rather hostile to human settlements.
Just flying over it you get a clear grasp of the mesmerisingly massive body of water below, almost the size of the island of Taiwan, stretching in all directions with little islands scattered close to its banks. A one-hour flight leads from Yellowknife all the way East towards the remotest part of the lake, where it lands on a gravel strip in the middle of nowhere.

Frontier Fishing Lodge is nestled here, in the East Arm of the Great Slave Lake, Western Territories, Canada. It is far from home – wherever that is for you – but as close as you can get to the wild, pristine and stunningly wide land of Canada.

Fishing in these incredible waters, at days swept by a strong, freezing wind, includes huge lakers, massive grayling, and what we came down here for: plenty of big, hungry, post-spawning pike, most of which have never seen a lure in their entire life.

It was just the best spot we could have picked to test the latest legacy of our Titan hook, the Titan Diver+, equipped with a ground-breaking lead-swapping system that could potentially be revolutionary for many weedless fishing applications.
A big thank goes to Corey and all the staff and the guides of the lodge, who contributed a big deal to make this experience one of a kind.
